Senior Electrical Engineer
Jim Thomas is a senior electrical engineer at NovaWurks™ Inc., a provider of high technology space products and services. He is responsible for leading the electrical engineering team at the company, which works in tandem with other departments to provide research and design for all projects at NovaWurks.
Thomas has more than 20 years of experience in space systems design and operation, with specialties in micro-satellite systems, radio frequency (RF) communication, guidance, navigation and control (GNC), power as well as test and flight mission software. Prior to joining NovaWurks, Thomas was with Northrop Grumman where he developed novel ground and flight software for the Plymouth Nano satellite launch and RDE Control Electronics for High Energy Laser within the Airborne Laser Program. He was also responsible for developing the RDE DARPA F6 hardware-in-the-loop, which operated multi-satellites in 10 months including key wireless network hardware, protocols and software simulations.
Having earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Redlands, Thomas also has a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California. He resides in Mentone, Calif. with his wife and son.
